How is Fit Litter different to other cat litters on the market?

Fit Litter contains a new micro silica-gel crystal technology that is much more absorbent than other litter on the market. Making it more effective and requiring less litter to be used. Normal clumping litter turns urine into large clumps that need to be thrown out regularly and then for the litter tray to be topped up but because of Fit Litters millions of pores in each single silica-gel grain of Fit Litter means that the odour of urine is trapped within the pores of the crystal and the moisture is evaporated away almost instantly! This means Fit Litter doesn’t require to clump or be thrown out and that’s why it can last up to a month while requiring 80% less litter! To add to the magic, it also contains health monitoring capabilities to make the litter change colour if it detects certain health abnormalities in your cat’s urine.

How long does 1 bag of Fit Litter last?

1 bag of Fit Litter lasts 1 cat 30 days.

Will my cat have any problems taking to Fit Litter?

Most cat’s take to Fit Litter immediately but some cats may have a harder time getting used to the new litter. If that is your cat, we recommend taking one urine clump and one poop and putting it in with the new Fit Litter. We find that can be really helpful in them understanding this where they are comfortable doing their business because of the familiar smells! Alternatively, you can put 75% of your Fit Litter in your litter tray and 25% of your old litter on top. Your cat will mix it in themselves. The next month you can do 100% Fit Litter – Woohoo!

Can I use Fit Litter if I have multiple cats?

Of course! In fact, we encourage it!

Note: Should you detect a abnormal colour appear, we recommended using 2 litter trays and having an extra bag of Fit Litter on hand to help isolate which cat is possibly having some health issues.

Does Fit litter work in Litter Robots or automated litter trays?

Yes - It thrives! The sand like texture works well with Litter Robots and most other automatic litter trays.

What are the ingredients of Fit Litter?

Fit Litter is made up of amorphous silica-gel micro crystals combined with a health indicating solution to help monitor your cat’s health by detecting the level of acidity or alkalinity in your cat’s urine. Amorphous silica (different to the toxic crystalline silica) is completely non-toxic and has been used in our food and cosmetic industry for many years. Silica gel crystals are made from naturally forming minerals, found in things like sand. Making them safe for your cat to breath or ingest (however eating in large quantities is not healthy, just like any litter). Silica is not biodegradable and is best to be thrown out in your waste but is environmentally safe! Think sand!

Does Fit Litter clump?

Fit Litter is a non-clumping cat litter. It’s innovative silica-gel micro crystal technology means that it is ultra-absorbent, trapping urine odours within the pores of the crystal and instantly evaporating the moisture out. This means no need to scoop out old clumps of used cat litter – just scoop the poop, stir regularly, and replace the full litter contents each month.

Is Fit Litter household safe?

Fit Litter uses silica-gel crystals which are a naturally forming mineral. They are inert and are not absorbed by the bowel. On top of this Fit Litter is virtually dust free so if your cat has asthma or any other related condition, Fit Litter can help with this too. It is safe for cats to breath and ingest however we recommend making sure your cat does not ingest a lot of it as ingesting a lot of any cat litter is not great for them.

How does Fit Litter monitor my cat’s health?

Fit Litter includes a formula that detects the level of acidity or alkalinity in your cat’s urine.

Too high acidity in the urine and Fit Litter will turn an Orangey colour possibly suggesting:

  • Kidney disease or kidney tubular acidosis
  • Metabolic acidosis
  • Calcium oxalate crystal formation

Too high alkalinity in the urine and Fit Litter will turn a Bluey colour possibly suggesting:

  • UTI
  • Increased risk of struvite stone formation in the bladder

It’s important to note that Fit Litter is an indicator of possible health abnormalities and should not be treated as a diagnosis. A diagnosis will need to come from a licensed Vet.

My cat is eating the litter, is that bad?

Fit Litter uses silica-gel crystals which are a naturally forming mineral. It is inert and safe for cats to breath and ingest however we recommend making sure your cat does not ingest a lot of it as ingesting a lot of any cat litter is not great for them.

What to Check

Where should I put my litter tray?

Avoid humid areas like bathrooms and laundries as the ultra-absorbing Fit Litter crystals will start to absorb the moisture in the air. Cats typically like peaceful low traffic areas of the house to do their 1s and 2s!

How much Fit Litter should I put in the litter tray?

We recommend pouring the whole bag of Fit Litter into the tray. You should try and have about 5cm of depth evenly across the whole litter tray for 1 cat litter trays and at least 7.5cm for multi cat litter trays. Having adequate depth is critical for optimising Fit Litter's odour obliterating ability. You can use the measuring card included in each bag for this. We recommend the tray size for one bag be about 40cm x 30cm.

I still can detect odours from the tray, what am I missing?

Make sure there is enough fresh litter in the tray for the number of cats using it. You should try and have at least 5cm of depth of Fit Litter for a 1 cat litter tray and at least 7.5cm of depth for a multi-cat litter tray. This is critical to optimise Fit Litter's odour obliterating ability.

Also we recommend stirring the litter daily to bring fresh crystals to the surface to avoid over saturating the same crystals as cats typically like to twinkle in the same spot!

Alternatively, make sure the litter tray is in a non-humid space. Avoid bathrooms or laundries as the micro-crystals will get too saturated absorbing the excess moisture in the air.
